Dear followers and readers, how are you? I’m TOSHI, a Japanese woman.
I’ve been living in Tokyo for half a year now.
What still surprises me is that there is so many different types of real estate in Tokyo, whether it’s for rent or for sale. The other day, I went to a dance hall in a labyrinth.
I won’t reveal the exact location (and some details have been changed to protect privacy), but it’s in a historic, prime location, in a corner of the city that’s popular among tourists for shopping and gourmet food. If you’ve ever been to Tokyo, you may have passed by it unbeknownst.
I like dancing. I decided to take a trial lesson at a dance school and attend a dance party afterwards.
The instructor was a foreigner, so I was excited, thinking that if things went well, it might help me learn the language.
However, I had a hard time finding a classroom. It’s supposed to be right next to a famous intersection, but I never get there. I was almost late (being late is not a good thing in Japan) – I called my teacher in a hurry , only to find a retro building. I made it to the entrance of the building, but I didn’t know where to go.
There was a Chinese massage parlor, and there were two boys with tattoos, but for some reason they never got on the elevator. I had no choice but to go first, but the elevator didn’t stop at the floor I wanted.
In my haste, I got off at another floor and asked someone, but they told me that I had to go to the lower floor and use the stairs to get in. I felt like I was walking into a labyrinth.
When I opened the door, it was a different world.
I could hear music, and there was an elegant and beautiful Japanese woman and a foreign man who were the instructors. On the walls are the brilliant biographies of the teachers. There were other students too.
This was an unusual room, Im not sure what it used to be but it was a soundproof room .
Anyways, what a retro and mysterious space it is. It felt like I had traveled back in time or entered a secret base, the setting of a mystery novel set in that time.
It seems that he has been in Japan for several decades. After a thorough lesson, the place became the venue for a dance party.
I could also drink alcohol. I’m still a young woman in a place like this, so even though I’m not very good at it yet, I could dance with a lot of people and had a great time.
Also, I think I saw a gentlemen with, maybe his special lady friend (high class escort) that day. If so, this was my first time to see. She came with a well-dressed gentleman with white hair and they were laughing the whole time. She looked like she was in his 20’s. She was young and extraordinarily beautiful, and when she was there, she instantly brightened up the place, like a flower or a gorgeous cat.
When I told the taxi driver about this on the way home, he said, “The top class escort around here don’t dress to be recognizable. Maybe she is really young, or maybe they came from somewhere else.” But I’m not sure of the truth.
There were people from all types of life.
Later, they said it used be the room for speakers. That is the reason why it is soundproof.
It was fun though. I felt like my energy had been replenished, and the next day I was muttering, “Ah, yesterday was fun.”
I’m not used to it sometimes, but when I’m nervous, I think I’ll go there to dance.
