What I like best in Japan

It is called “Nakama ishiki (仲間意識)”. It’s very annoying how to explain this, but that’s the main reason I chose to live in my home country.

I looked up this word in my Japanese-English dictionary, but it didn’t appear in the first place. If you use an internet translation system, you will see “frendship”. Probably not. It may be closer to “companionship”, but I don’t know.

Australia has the word “mateship”, but is it close to this? But this is probably a difficult word that cannot be translated accurately into English.

Is “Nakama ishiki” literally “awareness that we are’companies'”?

For example, individualism is the mainstream in the West.

Japan is a country where “groupism” is the mainstream, although there are differences depending on the region.

As a general rule, in a country where individualism is the mainstream, you don’t have to deal with people you don’t like or hate, and you want to enjoy another time in your private life, right? It may be different in Japan.

“Because I’m a member of a group, I have to get along with everyone as much as possible. Instead, be protected as a “companion” and
I can live in the group. ”

I think that is groupism.

Japan is a country that respects harmony

Anyway, groupism has good side and bad side.

I know people who immigrated overseas. They seemed to be more comfortable than in Japan. So, I have also tried to study abroad.

However, from the conclusion, when I actually lived a little, I found that it didn’t suit me at all.

I think there is no “Nakama ishiki” in foreign countries. For example, in an individualist country, instead of being relatively free, I felt that I have to win safety on my own.

I don’t like the crippled and unreasonable aspects of groupism, but when things go well, the group is relatively peaceful, mellow, helping each other, doing a lot of fun things, it’s good. We can work together to do something big.

Even if there are contradictions, I think Japan is a country that respects harmony. Do you agree? But contradictions are everywhere in every country.

Well, anyway, I like Japan after all and chose to live here.

By the way, I like the word “Waki aiai(和気藹藹)”, but I cant explain it, anymore. If you are learning Japanese, you can check it out once.
