Japanese urban legends

Dear followers and readers, how are you?  I’m TOSHI, a Japanese woman.

Last time, I wrote a little about the bad side of Japan, so today I would like to write about the good side.
As is often said, Japan is a relatively safe country. Is it a one of Japanese urban legends?

The other day, I received a letter from the police.

Let’s talk about that today.

The beautiful and profound world of “Kawaii”【Beautiful stories from far away From Japan】

I have never seen a gun in my life. As for the samurai sword

As a Japanese woman born and raised in Japan, I have never seen a gun in my life. As for the samurai sword, I have only seen the blade directly in museums.

The reason is that if the general public possesses them without permission, they can be subject to punishment under violation of the Firearms and Swords Act.

When my friends visited from France, I went with them to a sword shop in Kyoto that sells sword including antiques (and it was a fine shop with gentlemen staffs) .

I was surprised twice because it was close to another place I knew. They shopped, but I was just looking around. This is because it would be illegal for me as a Japanese person to have it without permission.

I’ve never seen a person beaten. I have never seen any drugs. I rarely see people quarreling on the street (even if that is a little boring).

Pickpockets are also not common, all I know is…

Pickpockets are also not common, all I know is when I was a student, my classmate’s wallet was once stolen in the Tokyo subway.

“Well, was there a pickpocket?”
“Yeah, I went to the police, but above all I hate this feeling. I hate it. I’m in Shock.”
“That’s true.”
I had a conversation. But that’s it.

I received a letter from the police

The other day, I received a letter from the police.
I got a letter from the police for the first time in my life. I was surprised and wondered why, but I was told that they received my coin purse I had lost, so they wanted me to pick it up. Someone may have kindly delivered it to the police station.

The other day, I went to get it
“Please be careful.”
“Isn’t it necessary to thank the person who delivered it?”
“That’s okay, but be careful.”
“Yes, I’m sorry for the inconvenience.”
Went my conversation with the police.

This is the second time I’ve come to the police other than to renew my license, and I didn’t have a chance to talk to the police officer, so I’m sorry, so I pointed a stick-like thing he had:
“What is it?”
I heard that. Then I greeted him and went home.

Once my bank card was returned to me quickly.
It might be one of the good sides of Japan.

Yet, unfortunately, my friend’s ring, an opal with two small diamonds ring … was not returned yet.

Anyway please be careful, danger could exist just anywhere.

Japan is a relatively safe country, because…

Japan is a relatively safe country, for some deep reasons, one of them is people involved in crimes are more likely to be discriminated against. Even the victims and the perpetrators’ families can be discriminated.

I’m glad that my friends from abroad come and say,
“I can’t believe I can walk around the city like this.”

Personally, I like to see foreigners having fun in Japan.

Just be careful. Dangers are everywhere. Also, when you go sightseeing in Japan, please respect us and the culture.

Even if there are a few pickpockets, there are many sad crimes and there are many cruel things. We live here with them.

The reality of human nature is that there will always be a crime in some way anywhere you might look.
But, please visit Japan someday. People are kind and I think it’s a good country to travel around!!
