My name is TOSHI, and I’m a Japanese travel and gourmet writer. But I haven’t gone almost anywhere for a year and half because of coronavirus, and because Japan is an island country.

Living in an island country prevents one from traveling abroad without airplanes or ships, which obviously haven’t been available for the past year.

It’s also hurt the drug trade, according to an article I read in a magazine. You know, drugs are very illegal in Japan, and of course, I would never do illegal drugs.

Nowadays it is not as easy to go to restaurants as it used to be. So, to take advantage of my time, I practice cooking every day.

I recently bought some thin-sliced “Matsuzaka” Beef, a major Japanese brand, and deep-fried it in a light tempura batter.

It was my first time to fry Matsuzaka Beef. The idea to try it flashed across my mind recently when I was cooking tempura; I could try preparing beef with it too!

I folded the thin-sliced Matsuzaka beef, and fried with in the light batter.

It was very delicious, a nice surprise! 

The fried batter was crispy, but the Matsuzaka beef inside melted in my mouth. I could enjoy the contrast of different textures and rich flavor of Matsuzaka beef.
