┃Observation of foreign tourists ~Top 5 areas I often talk about~
Basically, I like foreign tourists, and I have been taking care of them by talking to them often and giving them simple directions.
However, with the recent depreciation of the yen, it’s hate to say, but Japan is currently experiencing a bit of overtourism.
Speaking of the disadvantages in a familiar places,
・When I went to a famous town, there were so many tourists that I couldn’t eat three times in a row due to large crowds.
・Even though it’s a public road, there are so many people that I can’t even step forward. Crowds are back to back.
Still, there are many people who respect Japan (I ask that you respect Japan. It’s a country with a rich culture, and kind people), so I still like talking with them.
“This trip (to Japan) was a great success!”
“I can’t believe how clean the city is.”
It’s nice to hear you say that.
Roughly speaking, I have recently listed my top 5 favorite countries and regions for tourists.

5th place South Korea
I also like Korean artists. I love dancing, so it feels good to see people who are good at dancing.
Actually, there are more people who can speak Japanese than I expected, and Korea is the nearest neighboring country to Japan. Koreans often express their emotions straightforwardly and this way of being is refreshing and new to see for me. Many people may think that Japanese and Korean people are the same, but people on the continent are different, for better or for worse. Japan is an island country.
4th place People from Greater China
This may be a rough explanation, but before the Korean boom came, there was a similar boom in Chinese films and culture in Japan, which lasted for a long time from Hong Kong, China, and Taiwan. I am from the generation that spent my youth with that boom at that time. I also learned a little Chinese. The easiest people to talk to are Taiwanese. It is often said that Japan is an island and Taiwan is an island as well, and they have similar temperaments. There are also many people who can speak Japanese.

3rd place: French-speaking people
I graduated in French Literature and was able to carry out everyday conversations when I was younger. I’ve been living in the countryside for a long time and haven’t had a chance to talk to them, but I like the French people because they have a happy and are free spirited. However, I can’t speak much French right now…The other day, I was talking to a couple from Quebec at a restaurant, and they were really nice people, but I was disappointed that I couldn’t speak fluently with them.
2nd place: English speaking people, especially Americans
I apologize for categorizing so broadly, but English is my skill. People whose native language is English make communication smooth and fun. Also, many European and American people have good manners. I have the most opportunities to talk to Americans. They are all too often very open and happy. Originally, there were many Americans in Japan.
Probably because Japan views America favourably . I would like to be able to speak other languages fluently, but as I get older, I have trouble learning like I did before.
But, many Americans will say, “Never give up!” and “Try again!” The good thing about Americans is that when they say this to me, I’m often motivated by it. They can be powerful.

1 South America, mainly people who say “R” with a curled tongue
It’s a shame that I don’t have many chances to meet South America because it’s so far from Japan, but ever since I moved to Tokyo, I’ve become very interested in South American people and culture. I feel like they are happy and easy-going and enjoys life. In some ways, I feel like it’s the exact opposite of the Japanese way of life. At first, a middle-aged Mexican man just pushed the button for the hotel elevator (I didn’t push it for him, he pushed it for me), and he smiled and laughed. I was really surprised when he smiled so brightly. Sometimes they all sing together. I wonder why you’re smiling so much. I guess it’s because they often laugh a lot. Recently, by coincidence, a Spanish-speaking person from South America became my new teacher. That person is also a very positive person. I feels very relaxed when I takes their classes. I plans to study Spanish.
