【Tokyo Gourmet Life in my way】Beautiful stories from far away From Japan

❙ New life in Tokyo, and gourmet in my way
Dear followers and readers, how are you? I’m TOSHI, a Japanese woman.
Sorry for the late update. However, I was extremely busy.
Due to some circumstances, I left Yokohama. After much deliberation, I am currently living in Tokyo for a trial period, since I’m not sure if I will stay here.
Every region has its good side, however, one of the reasons I came to Tokyo especially is that the city is home to excellent ingredients from all over Japan, and sometimes even from around the world. There are also many delicious restaurants.
I am now enjoying Tokyo gourmet life in my way.
It’s not like I’m going to all the Michelin-rated fine restaurants! (But I also would like to go there sometimes)
What I decided is, to live in an area not too far from The Tsukiji (築地) Outer Market and Ginza (銀座) in Chuo Ward.
Tsukiji is a purchasing place for experts who seek the finest ingredients. However, after they have finished purchasing, amateurs and regular people can do some shopping, and the food and sellers must be highly respected at all times (We should be polite to them).
In addition, in and around the market, you can enjoy excellent cuisine made with excellent ingredients at relatively lower prices than elsewhere.
There are also many restaurants that are a little far from the market that are really delicious. Sometimes, they may not be very cheap, but they are often good prices for their high quality.
That’s why I wanted to live around here once. It’s close to Ginza, and it’s been an area I’ve admired since I was a student.

This is my personal opinion, but for me, it may be the best gourmet food town in the world.
For example, I’ve been to Lyon in France, which is said to be a city of gourmet food.
Of course, the authentic French cuisine was delicious, and the restaurants had a good atmosphere.
However, finishing the main dish was difficult because I can’t eat a lot.
Restaurants in some foreign countries may close spontaneously or without notice, so I couldn’t go to the restaurant I was looking for even though I came from such a long distance away.
But some French restaurants in Japan offer half-sized portions of really delicious French appetizers (sometimes you can enjoy 2-3 plates of appetizers), and depending on the ingredients, the main dish can be made in smaller quantities, which is great for me.
Have you ever eaten Japanese Kaiseki cuisine?
Beautiful food is served in small portions through a variety of dishes.
If possible, I would like to eat delicious food like that. This is a matter of preference.
In short, it suits my Japanese taste.
Of course, those who want to eat a lot are welcome. There are plenty of choices.
Not only fish and Sushi, but also Western food, Curry, Soba, Yakiniku, Thai food...Recently, I was able to eat Hegi Soba for the first time in a while in Tsukiji. (Hegi soba⇓This picture)

❙Cycling through Tokyo
Land prices are high in Chuo Ward, but the area where I live still retains historical traces of when Tokyo was still called Edo (Edo Period 江戸時代 [1603~1868]).
I like walking through the streets where there is a mix of modern luxury apartments, ordinary houses, and old houses that seem to have a lot of history. There is also a surprising amount of greenery in a city, such as the large parks…I think it is a luxury to have this integrated into the city itself.
As my new neighbor told me, “It’s convenient to have a bicycle around here.” The Sumida River (隅田川) is also relatively close. Cycling through Tokyo’s historical towns among nature would be wonderful!
There are still some things I cannot get used to, I also should be careful about the temptations of shopping and gourmet food, etc.
But I will be able to find new hobbies, meet new people, and try living here as a trial.
