I suddenly got engaged recently

Hello, dear followers and readers. I’m TOSHI. I’m a Japanese woman.

I’m sorry I haven’t been able to update for a while.

The reason is that I suddenly got engaged recently. I met my fiance on August 11th through a matchmatching agencie（for have an arranged marriage), and then three months later, we got engaged.

I’m now living with my partner, and we will move to a new apartment soon, so I’ve been very busy.

Arranged marriage and a fine in Japan

In Japan, matchmaking agencies（for have an arranged marriage) arrange a date for you as a member and pare you with a potential match.

There is a agency, a couple could get fined around 5,000 yen (around 31.97 USD)a month if they don’t get engaged within a three-month window. You might be surprised to hear that! I was also very surprised to hear that.

At the matchmaking agency I belonged to, there is no fine, and the monthly membership fee was around 16,800 yen (around 107.49 USD), and the marriage fee was 220,000 yen(around 1,407.60 USD). Considering my situation, I think it’s a fair price.

“I love you today, too.”

But even though we fight occasionally, it’s going very well, and when we wake up in the morning, we hug each other and say,

“I love you today, too.”

I once said,

“I’m so happy to be loved so much,”

and he replied,

“Your happiness is my happiness.”
