┃Marlon Brando’s dance in “The Godfather”
It also appears at the beginning of this video (YouTube, trailer for the 50th anniversary of the movie “The Godfather”).
Marlon Brando dances brilliantly with his daughter at her wedding in movie The Godfather, and I really like this scene. It’s also a very well made movie.
I’ve been learning dance for about four years in total, but due to the coronavirus and other circumstances, I haven’t been able to make much progress.
I want to be able to dance gracefully.

❙Is a woman’s ambition a virtu?Japanese gold-digger, Tokyo.
Hello, I am TOSHI, a Japanese woman living in Tokyo.
Have you heard of Tokyo’s Minato Ward before?
Tokyo’s Minato Ward (港区) is a beautiful and, in many ways, special place (Minato means port, and Roppongi (六本木) is located in Minato Ward).
Amazing skyscrapers that look like a futuristic city, the Tokyo skyline, sophisticated and rich buildings… And many of the residents, especially men, are said to be very high earners.
There is a phrase coined to describe a certain kind of girl in Japan: Minato Ward Girls(港区女子). To put it very roughly, I’m talking about young, beautiful women who want to marry a wealthy man who lives in Minato Ward.
It can be said, Japanese gold-digger.
And it seems that many of them do not actually live in Minato Ward.
Moreover, they often appear in Minato Ward’s robust party scene despite coming from far away often outside of Tokyo.
These girls are often very powerful and are seeking out the dream to become someone’s Cinderella and find their wealthy Minato Ward men.
Apparently, there is a person who spent ※50 million yen (about $330,000 USD) on a date with his girlfriend at a special club at※ Tokyo Disneyland.
She was quoted saying something to the lines of
“※With this man’s power, you can even buy Mickey Mouse himself!”
Of course, she was happy with this experience.
┃“Ambition is a virtue.”
I can’t be one of these Minato Ward Girls, but, at times like this, I remember the words of Alain Delon, big French actor with beautiful face:
“Ambition is a virtue.”
❙ Japan’s gender gap index is 125th in the world
Japan’s gender gap index is 125th in the world.
Discrimination against women is a serious problem, and in Japan, women are less likely to become super rich than men. Age discrimination is even more severe when it comes to women.
If a woman wants to live a wealthy and privileged life, the quickest way to do so is to marry someone with good conditions while she is young, even if she is beautiful.
Being chosen by a man is still the quickest path to happiness for women.
Minato Ward Girls have both good and bad sides. The good thing is that they are proactive. They don’t wait for happiness. They challenge to catch it by themselves. It looks so to me.
Of course, there are bad sides as well. It’s also the environment surrounding them too.
Slander, calculation, temptation, danger… I don’t think I want to be a Minato Ward Girls even if I’m young and pretty, but the way many Japanese women work hard within their limited freedom is a hope of Japanese male society. And every time I see them, I remember of the saying, “Ambition is a virtue.”
What do you think? Helpful feedback is always welcome.

❙ Radical remarks made at a girl’s association in Japan
I like women, especially Japanese women. I don’t mean it as a kind of sexual attraction, but I feel comfortable when I’m with them.
Maybe it was because I was close to my mother, or maybe it was the environment. It was quite a while ago, but I graduated from an all-girls school, and perhaps because of the experiences I picked up there, I spent a lot of time in a female-only world.
And did you know? In Japan, there is something called a “girls’ association”.
It is a gathering, dinner, or party held without men present. Japanese women, especially when they get married, even if they are single, once they have a lover, they often cut off private and deep relationships with people of the opposite sex other than their chosen partner.
❙ “Men and women should not share the same seat at the age of seven”
There is an old Japanese proverb that goes, “Men and women should not share the same seat at the age of seven,” and that saying may still be widely accepted in Japan today.
It is usual for young people to enjoy their youth by playing in mixed-sex groups. Also, in some countries, it’s typical for men and women to be friends and not say anything to the people around them (how? Is it okay to go out for drinks for two? Or just talk? ), this may have been especially true since the Tokai Region of Japan, where I grew up, is conservative. There are still women’s colleges there.
If a married housewife has one-on-one contact with a man, rumors may spread, so when her husband is not around, there will be more opportunities for women to gather alone.
Even people who are not married and have a boyfriend tend to be like this. Partly because of this, there are many groups where only girls and women gather together.
You can chat, drink tea and alcohol, go to hot springs and talk about things…Many establishments, whether restaurants or hotels, have plans that allow for lower rates for women-only groups. Many business establishments often welcome and even advertise for girls-only parties.
When I read the accounts of foreign women living in Japan, especially white women, I often find myself surprised by the Japanese custom of “girls’ ‘association’ and the way Japanese women behave and sometimes transform.
Are Japanese women considered to be ladylike? There is a side to it, but in other words, she is playing the role of becoming a woman who satisfies a man (sometimes it is motivated by love for a man, other times she is motivated by a relationship with a man with good prosperities). The purpose is to enhance one’s own values and life, among other things.
“When in the girls-only environment, girls and women can take off their masks of `’a man-pleasing woman” and simply be themselves.”
There is no denying that there is this aspect.
That’s very sexist. But that’s one of the big reasons.
A few years ago, I had a young female friend who was more than ten years younger than me and whom I met through a hobby. She was a young, beautiful woman who had graduated from a prestigious local women’s university and was working at a bank. She was the daughter of the president of a liberal arts company.
It was interesting to have them join their “girls’ night out.” She had a sophisticated and was stylish and we enjoyed many Vietnamese food and rare Vietnamese drinks.
She once told me: “TOSHI, you look younger than your age. Are you not okay with younger men?”
Or something like that.
“You are older than us, so you need some fresh baby seeds, I think”
When a woman from a good family who graduated from a prestigious women’s university said this, I was shocked.
So if you are a woman who speaks Japanese, I think it would be fun to make friends and join this “girls’ association”.
My question and hope is: Are there such groups in other countries?
For example, what about in Korea? I would like to attend a gathering of Islamic women someday.
Girls’ nights out may be fun, but it’s true that Japan’s sexism is still strong at its core, and Japan’s gender gap index is 125rd in the world.
However, yesterday I was reading a book called A Book on How to Become an Attractive Woman, and although it was instructive in some ways, but the author was a man, and most of what was written there was “What do men think? How men will choose women?” There is no perspective on what the woman wants to say, where her intentions, emotions, and true feelings lie.
When I realized this, I felt like something was touching my chest.
After coming to Tokyo, I joined a mild feminist group that you can join for about 1,200 yen a month. There, I was able to talk a little with some Muslim women.
What do you think when you hear this story? Even if you are a man, I look forward to your helpful comments. I want some answers.

┃Ginza, Tokyo
Hello everyone, this is TOSHI. I’m a Japanese woman.
I went to Ginza(銀座) for coffee! I went to two coffee shops, the first one was by myself and the other one was with other other people.
※The name of coffee shop is on the Japanese version.
I guess it’s because of the local nature that there are such shining alleys.
An antique cafe. The last photo is also in front of the cafe.
It feels good to be surrounded by cups, crafts, and wonderful paintings, some are from Meissen and probably Herend.
❙Go to Ginza. What I lost and what I want to get back
After that, I went to a place nearby.
Ginza is in Chuo Ward (中央区) of Tokyo, right? I’m not proud of it, but it’s close to where I live now.
In many ways, I still can’t believe that I moved to Tokyo and that I live in Chuo Ward.
Life is unpredictable.
I deeply envy people who can say with all their heart, “I love this town,” or “I’ve lived here since my parents’ generation, and I’ve hardly ever left my hometown” I want to understand, even if just a little, how those people might feel.
This is why I took on the challenge of living in Chuo Ward, despite not growing up there.
Tokyo is fascinating, informative, and can be captivating.
However, no matter how hard I try, I still can’t believe that I suddenly lost what I could call a home and family (I lost my parent).
I have never truly loved any city or place. The only place I’ve ever loved is my home.
There’s no place like home. At least that’s the case for me.
I’m working hard enough, so I hope I can find a new “home” soon.
I have a sibling and we get along well, but we live far apart.
If you see someone who has lost or is losing their home, please be kind if possible, but if not, please don’t be cold hearted towards them.
People who own their homes will not understand how people who struggle with housing might feel. But I’m sure they’re feeling terrible.
❙ I love art
Chagall print.
I love art. Art heals people and makes them feel whole.
When I was young, I loved visiting art galleries in Ginza, but I guess the number of art galleries is decreasing.
At that time, I believe I was able to see Kisling’s work up close.
“You should definitely go to the Ueno Art Museum in Tokyo!”
I was told this by someone who is knowledgeable about art.
It’s far from where I lived when I was young, so I haven’t been there in a long time.
If you know of any nice galleries or art museums near Tokyo, please let us know.

❙My lovely room is bloody and purple
How are you? I’m great because my room is finally in order!
I’m sorry for not getting back to you sooner. Life has been chaotic, to say the least.
【Kabuki and interior】 Relationship between beauty and feminity in modern days【Beautiful stories from far away From Japan】
https://clubrosy.jp/topimg/2620.html
It makes sense if you think about it. I spent my college days in Tokyo(Mejiro and Ikebukuro
in Toshima ward, , but after that, I went back at home at that time. However, I suddenly lost my family and moved to the middle of Tokyo, Chuo Ward (Chuo means central).
In fact, for two years, I moved from a shared house to hotels and had some interesting encounters, but I never knew that not having a permanent residence could be so difficult.
The hardest thing for me these past two years was not being able to relax and watch TV on my own tatami room
I was from a big enough city, but I was from the suburbs, so my parents’ home was a relatively laid-back place and since we live in a car-based society, there were only two buses a day, and it was within walking distance, there were no convenience stores either.
Well, once a convenience store opened in the back of my house, and I was really happy about it, but it closed down within about six months (that’s the kind of place I came from!).
So, what I enjoyed on weekdays was cooking food in the evening, drinking beer, watching TV, and talk with my family.
“This is what makes me happy.”
I often said. It was refreshing for me, but due to the sudden death of my parent, my brother became busy, and my environment changed completely; those little pleasures disappeared for the time being.
Fortunately, I was able to find a new room in the place I had dreamed of since my days as a student, and for the first time in a long time, I was able to sleep on a futon on a tatami mat, and I was able to sleep really well.
However, at home, the electricians came and did repairs and everything, But I had to do everything myself in Tokyo. I bought almost everything online, including the TV, TV stand, curtains, refrigerator, and dishwasher. I had to throw away the packaging and assemble it myself.
This was even the first time I ever have a screwdriverin my life .
You don’t need a chair because you sit on a tatami or zabuton. My desk is foldable so that you can use it in a larger room while saving space.
Seiza is not that painful if you have the correct posture. If your posture gets out of whack, use the stretch poles next to the TV to help you get back on track. That’s all you have to do.
If you don’t have a lot of belongings in the first place, you don’t have to throw them away or maintain them eventually. Minimalism is easy.
In Japan, there are Japanese-style rooms that effectively use red and blue (I love them).
I love purple the most, so I thought I’d make this room a “purple room.” Like Sissi of the Habsburg family!
However, even though the purple curtains I bought online are a nice color, but If you use purple in a Japanese-style room, it will somehow looks like the waiting room at a temple. It’s not very chic.
However, what you need to be careful about is that if you buy or assemble something online again, make sure you don’t end up losing money.
We used to use a knife to open cardboard boxes.
My mother used to open everything for her with a kitchen knife, but she would forget the knife on the box or leave it on the bathtub cover for some reason so it eventually became a funny memory for me.
So, I followed suit and opened all the boxes with a knife, but when I did that, it cut, cut, cut my hand. I got cut in 4 places, and blood splattered out. It hurt so much that I couldn’t help it.
When I was talking to a new acquaintance, he said, “You should just use a boxcutter.”
Of course, there was a TV at the hotels, I ended up watching movies or YouTube. If you are concentrating on a foreign language, it will be difficult to enjoy your food while watching.
When I was absentmindedly watching Japanese TV on the tatami for the first time in a while, I felt like I was at my parents’ home. I got a better sense of taste, and I was able to get some chores done while watching TV.
Oh, that was such a long time.
I thought I had suddenly lost everything, but over the past two years, when things were really tough, I dared to get up early and work hard, and I regained a lot of peace.
Although I haven’t completely calmed down yet, this experience has given me more confidence.
